In 1948, Christiaan married his first wife, Aletta Louw, known as Louwtjie. They had two children together,
Andre and Dierdre. Unfortunately, the couple divorced in 1969.

To try his luck again, he married a beautiful lady by the name of Barbara Zoellner
in 1970. They had two son, Frederick and Christiaan. I guess luck ran out for Dr. Barnard because the two divorced in 1982.

His last marriage was with Karin Setzkorn, a woman young enough to be his grand-daughter. These
two also had two children together, Armin and Lara. To follow the path of the previous marriages, the couple divorced in 2000.
